DOT Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for the coordination of each project in a timely manner. They must facilitate the role of liaison between clients and team members. The SPM must review logistics plans to verify compliance with NYC Department of Transportation and other city agency approval and permits. The SPM is the main individual responsible throughout the duration of the project from Plan Review, Permit Request, Application filing & Permit approval.
Primary Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to):
- Must be able to navigate NYC Streets (DOT web filing system), and track all projects from beginning to end.
- Coordination of DOT-related agency forms for various types of filings.
- Must be able to multitask to successfully organize significant amounts of projects.
- Must be able to intelligently discuss projects with clients and update the client on project status such as but not limited to filings, approvals & permits.
- Plans, coordinates, and leads activities to ensure the procurement of project objectives.
- Coordinates with office PMs, and filing reps, to meet the proposed project schedule.
- Update clients regarding project updates
- Perform any additional duties if needed.
- Review all new and proposed work, discuss job with client and advise on what permits should be filed with DOT
- Coordinate technical requests with DOT reviewers
- Street Light relocation
- Bus stop relocation
- Signage relocation
- Vault filings (review/attend meetings and assist permit filings if needed)
- Register new clients with NYC Streets (DOT website)
- Schedule and attend New Building/Major Renovation Meetings
- Site Visits
- Freedom of Information and Litigation searches (FOIL)
- Submit new permit application at DOT intake window & review with DOT examiners
- Submits all insurance
- Loading/Unloading Zones
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or two to four years job comparable experience required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must as are active listening skills.
- Applicant must possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Must be self-sufficient as well as have the capability to multi-task.
- Must be a team player with strong initiative and excellent people skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, grammar, and computer skills also required
- Must maintain a professional and presentable appearance at all times
- Navigate government agency websites to determine the status of filings
- Effectively prioritize workload based on expectations set with the client
- Comply with deadlines to ensure the proposed project schedule is met
- Demonstrate proficiency in standard computer operation and office productivity software
- Knowledge of Building Code and Zoning a plus
