ECB Proposes Rule to Boost Site Protection Penalties

By Renee Sosnowski

The Environmental Control Board has proposed a new Amendment to the current DOT Penalty Schedule for Failure to Provide Adequate Protection at Work Sites.

To promote the safety of pedestrians and vehicles around a worksite, the ECB is proposing a Rule to increase the penalty for failure to provide adequate protection for violations written by DOT. Under the new Rule, the penalty would rise from $400 to $1,200. Further, the default penalty for failure to provide adequate protection would increase from $1,200 to $3,600.

A Public Hearing is scheduled to discuss the proposed Rule, on Wednesday, Feb 11, 2015 at 2pm. The Hearing is located at:

NYC ECB
66 John St, 10th fl conference room
