2015 Holiday Construction Embargo
By Wayne Sheppard
The annual DOT Holiday Construction Embargo comes to town at the end of this month. Starting November 20th, then running from November 23rd through January 2, 2016, the embargo clears the way for pedestrians to better enjoy NYC and increase safety during the Holiday seasons.
Roadway and sidewalk construction activities are to be suspended during the embargo, even for projects with approved permits. In certain cases where the project has a permit stipulation “410” and has been granted a special permit by the OCMC, work may continue.
Prior to the embargo beginning, all sites within the designated areas must be secured in anticipation of heavy pedestrian traffic.
