Fire Protection Plan Approvals Under Spotlight

The DOB has plenty of rules, and there’s some truth to the fact that enforcement is always a challenge. One such rule regards the approval of Fire Protection Plans – in the past this has been met with some leniency, but now TCO’s will not be granted without this requirement.

Buildings with six stories and greater as well as those exceeding 75 feet in height require an approved Fire Protection Plan in order to obtain an initial temporary Certificate of Occupancy, or to renew an existing one. This is mandatory, and will be enforced.
