Update for Tenant Protection Plans
By Penny Laughlin
The DOB has added another document to filings, for cases when work is proposed in building with dwelling units. During work on residential units, the contractor must be considerate and protect tenants from noise, dust, debris and all construction related disruptions. This falls under a Tenant Protection Plan, which traditionally was filed alongside construction drawings.
A new DOB Service Notice outlines a new procedure, with a project’s Tenant Protection Plan now to be submitted as separate document in submission. The TPP1 is a stand alone form for all alteration filings in a partially occupied residential buildings. The form requires the architect to enter the same Tenant Protection Notes and also may define any tenant safety particulars for work proposed.
As with all new forms, there are many details. To review the procedure and better understand the requirements, please click here.
