DOB Requires Online Payment of Certain Penalties

As of November 2, 2020, the Department of Buildings (DOB) requires online payment of Immediately Hazardous (AEUHAZ) and Benchmarking Violation civil penalties. Payments received by mail after the effective date will be returned to sender.

Online Penalty Payment

To pay the penalty fees for these violations:

1. Log in to eFiling.
2. Select “Express Cashier Payments.”

The eFiling system will accept payment by electronic check or credit card, which includes a 2% service charge.

Violation Dismissal

Payments made on or after October 5, 2020, will result in automatic dismissal of the associated violation civil penalty.

For payments made before October 5, 2020, violation dismissal requires submitting proof of payment with the Certificate of Correction review request or to the Sustainability unit.
