Signoff Help for Old & Expired Limited Alteration Application
By Mario Aurioso
Limited Alternation Application (LAA) are required for Licensed contractors seeking to perform minor plumbing and oil burner installations/repairs or sprinkler and standpipe work. The work under the LAA is minor, and there’s a tendency for these applications to slip, especially if the contractor moves on from the project.
This triggers different issues, as owners often have a hard time signing off old open LAA application on their property profile. These open and old LAAs can hold up ownership request to obtain a final C of O for their property.
There is a solution – if the Licensed Contractor leaves the job and has conducted all of their required inspections, but never signed off. In this case, the Owner can write an Administrative Sign off letter stating what happen on that project and submit it to LAA division. The LAA division will review it and provide the requested sign off.
