Fire Alarm Letters for Electrical Work
By Brian Lafferty
Once plans are approved and permitted, and work is completed on Fire Alarm systems, it’s inspection time. The project’s licensed electrician will need to schedule a FDNY inspection under the approved application. If all of the approve paperwork is compliant and everything is up to Code requirements, the FDNY would issue one of the following letter types:
Letter of Defect: In cases where the inspector noted defects from a visual inspection.
Letter of Recommendation: In cases when the inspector finds no fault with the system. Issued the same day following the completed inspection.
Letter of Approval: Issued once all the required documents have been submitted and accepted, and the project has passed its physical inspection.
