LPC Enters 21st Century with e-Newsletter

By Penny Laughlin

From the outside looking in, the NYC’s Landmark Preservation Commission at times seems like a secret society shrouded in mystery, that shares more questions than answers. As arbiters of NYC’s past, the LPC weighs heavily on how our present day and future City will look and feel.

In a gesture to foster more openness with the rest of the City, the LPC has stepped forward with their own Newsletter. The initiative, launched under Chair Meenakshi Srinivasan, invites the industry and New Yorkers to better understand how the LPC operates, and influences the City.

On first look, the LPC seems technologically advanced, and certainly ready for its closeup. The First newsletter contains links to a Designation Report Search Engine, as well as an interactive feature to Find a Landmark in the City.
