CO Detectors Soon Mandatory in NY State
By Johan Soltani
At the beginning of the year, Governor Cuomo signed a bill mandating that all restaurants and commercial buildings install carbon monoxide detectors.
The legislation, dubbed Steven Nelson’s Law, followed the death of a restaurant manager who succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning at a Long Island location of Legal Sea Foods.
This legislation will take effect on July 1, 2015. We encourage all restaurants to take the pre-emptive step and start installation beforehand, as it may prevent an unnecessary tragedy.
