Tenant Protection Plans Emphasize Site Safety

By Brian Lafferty

The DOB has raised the bar on tenant safety. New guidelines require the formalization of a site’s Tenant Protection Plan. These plans are required for any alteration in which dwelling units are occupied during the construction process. To enforce this, the DOB is requiring plan examiners to check for this during plan examinations.

The purpose of the Tenant Protection Plan is to ensure safe passageway for tenants who are using their apartments during construction. When the site is a multiple dwelling locations, the Plans will require Special Inspectors to inspect the properties periodically.
