Upcoming Relocations Position Metropolis for Future Growth
By Frank Fortino
As reported in the Commercial Observer and Real Estate Weekly, Metropolis Group is preparing to relocate our headquarters from 22 Cortlandt Street to the historic Equitable Building at 120 Broadway, just around the block. We are also setting up a satellite office at 100 Town Square Place in the Newport section of Jersey City, N.J. These new spaces will enhance the firm’s ability to serve clients and employees as we continue to expand into new markets across the country.
120 Broadway
When it was completed in 1915, the 40-story property at 120 Broadway was the largest office building in the world based on floor area and was widely considered one of the original symbols of power and stature in Manhattan’s Financial District. A $52 million restoration by Silverstein Properties has combined the original beauty of the historic property with state-of-the-art amenities, including bike storage with locker rooms and showers, new security turnstiles, and redeveloped ground-floor retail.
We elected to relocate to this iconic building because of its proximity to the city agencies with which we work so closely, including the Department of Buildings (DOB), the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Department of City Planning (DCP), the Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA), the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC), and the Environmental Control Board (ECB). The central location will reduce travel time, increase accessibility, and ensure quick responses as we serve our clients.
100 Town Square Place
The new satellite office in Jersey City will be located in a best-in-class property in the master-planned community of Newport. This visionary development transformed an abandoned waterfront railyard into a thriving community, home to more than 12,000 residents and where more than 50,000 people work.
Like our new headquarters, the Jersey City office will offer convenient access and a comfortable environment for employees and clients as our service area continues to expand beyond the five boroughs. The satellite location will enhance our ability to support New Jersey construction projects as well as national clients.
